Leydi Arias, School Director & Lead Teacher

After completing my bachelor's degree I was introduced to the Fundamentals of Reggio Emilia and I fell in love with the philosophy. I love the idea of children being the leaders of their education. This aspect of early childhood education motivated me to pursue my masters degree at Pacific Oaks College, which led me to conduct my thesis on Reggio Emilia's philosophy. From my personal study I concluded that Reggio Emilia is the best early childhood education for children. I am thrilled to be part of The Willows team and continue to provide high-quality education to the children and families. During my free time, I love working out, spending time with friends and family or exploring new restaurants.

I have 8 years in the field of education from various job titles and I have experienced different early childhood philosophies. I really like the Ideology of Reggio Emilia and the value it grants to children. I enjoy working with the children and their families to help them reach their goals and milestones . I recently obtained my associates degree in Early Childhood development and I am currently pursuing to get my Bachelor's degree in education and human services. When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my husband and daughter exploring new places to hike. I am excited to have joined The Willows team and I look forward to serving the children and families at the Willows to the best of their needs.

Elizabeth Gordon-Garcia, Teacher

I have spent most of my life here in San Jose. I attended San Jose State University, where I studied Child and Adolescent Development. I focused on elementary education and received a Master's in Education alongside completing the coursework for a teaching credential. I realized that I wanted something where I could work with children in a smaller setting as they grow, learn, and develop. I have worked with younger children in early childhood settings and have enjoyed the way young minds work so creatively and passionately. I am excited to get to know each child and family at The Willows Nursery School.
